International Day of Yoga, commonly known as Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June every year since its introduction in the year 2015, declared by the United Nations General Assembly. Yoga Day is celebrated throughout the world promoting global health, harmony and peace, contributing to mental, physical and spiritual well-being of humanity as a whole.

In our school also International Yoga Day is celebrated every year with enthusiastic participation by the students, teachers and parents. This year in relation to Ruby Year Celebrations of our school, International Yoga Day was organised on 21st June, 2018 in a grand manner at 40 different places, in and around Ambattur between 6.30 am and 7.30 am. Around 1500 members performed yoga enthusiastically.

Parents, students, teachers, alumni and public (around 500 members) actively participated in Yoga celebrations which was solely arranged in the school campus. Sri. B.S.Venkatesh Kumar, B.Sc., Inspector of Police, Tamilnadu Commando Force, Sri. V. Arunagiri,  B.Com., B.L., President, Yoga and Sports Federation & Vice Chairman International Human Rights Association, Sri. P. Karthikeyan, M.Sc. (IT), M.Sc. (Yoga), President, Tamilnadu Yogasana Association, Thiruallur District and Sri. K. Saravanan, M.Sc., B.Ed., M.Phil., Principal, Kalaimagal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pattabiram were the Guests of honour for this mega event. Sri. S. Gopalakrishnan Hon. Correspondent, GKSVV, welcomed the gathering. Sri. B.S.Venkatesh Kumar, Inspector of Police, in his speech, insisted the importance of doing yoga every day for the healthy living of human beings. He also advised everyone to do yoga every day in the early morning hours, as we get fresh oxygen at that time which in turn keep our body fit. Yogasana was performed by all including the chief guests. The display by pre-primary kids on “Welcome to International Yoga Day” was appreciated by everybody. Dr. Samraj, Sri. Susikumar and Sri. Ayyanar from AYUSH and Sri.S.Manimaran from Indian Express Group joined hands with us for the success of the programme.
